Polar Bears Adaptations

They are cute, cuddly and absolutely vulnerable. Polar bears grab the admiration and recognition of people the globe over for their fluffy white furs as well as huggable size. They win honor from animal fans for their searching talent and survival techniques in one of the harshest atmospheres on Planet. Yet despite their frustrating appeal these giants are in hazard of being actually wiped off Planet completely.
Ice melting need to be actually a primary focus of conservation efforts for the polar bear as this is actually impacting the polar bear the most. Polar bears count on large blocks of drifting ice to execute their routine exercises associated to thriving. Polar bears prey on fat-laden seals from these stops of ice, they mate, as well as some even deliver their cubs on them. The issue by having the ice melting is actually that many polar bears have gone hungry because there is actually not adequate ice for them to hunt their prey. This alters their ability to reproduce as well as bring their cubs to term that immediately impacts population quantities. Also, when ice is actually likewise far from land, polar bears will wipe out trying to swim a long way distances to locate them. All of these aspects have actually made the polar bear more land bound.
When polar bears are on land they are actually more very likely to come face-to-face by having a predator, folks. Occasionally individuals hunt polar bears as prizes and additional individuals eradicate polar bears while defending themselves. Individuals additional impact polar bears when companies build facilities in their natural atmosphere, thus adjusting it irrevocably.
That Is Helping, as well as How
Significant contributors to the fight to cut the Arctic Polar Bear consist of the Coca-Cola Provider as well as the World Wildlife Fund. Together these organizations are raising money to research what is actually creating world-wide climate change as well as working by having governmental companies to manipulate greenhouse gas discharges. More significant ventures provide efforts to prevent unfavorable human interactions including poaching and exceptional tourism and defending vital environment areas such as birthing dens.
Knowledge is actually power. Come to be more informed about this valuable topic by paying a visit to Polar Bears at World Wild Life.

First the STOP Global Warming.
Put them in zoos
Um, considering there is like 20 colonies of polar bears and only 5 of these colonies are in danger I would not worry about it too much especially since the European colonies are expanding and growing.
polar bears are the most vicious of all the bear species and they are only in danger in the minds of environuts not in the real world
Polar bears have vulnerable status and it is as likely to become Endangered unless the circumstances threatening its survival and reproduction improve. According to http://www.bearplanet.org/global-warming-polar-bears.shtml “reduction in sea ice in the Arctic can see a loss of 2/3rds of the entire word?s Polar Bear population over the next 50 years. “
Do you agree with the experts that polar bear are only at risk, not extinction, even though the ice is melting http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7368484.stm Now excuse me folks but if they are losing the ice, its like losing part of their homes, causing them to have less area to feed etc. how can loss of habitat only put them at risk? Views please. gym: erm explain this wiseguy, how do 10,000 bears look after themselves in a smaller area? The homeless are in a different environment. you always get one don’t you, Naughty filla putta.
retort to your retort to gym the polar bears are not effected by space, it is the ability to feed that is being allegedly being removed and no the northern ice will not all be melted in a few years guy who said that above i believe it is a concern and that they may be being affected, but i also think it is being overhyped. it seems like it is the only actual negative impact so far to global warming, and its not even that solid of an argument. while i can clearly see temperatures are rising there have yet to be imo significant global impacts, and until we see one its going to be business as usual
Of course, it is under threat from extinction like everything else while the expansion of the human population is allowed to go unchecked.
er, well they stated clearly from the article why they said that , ” the panel found that Canada’s polar bear population was not declining enough to place it in the most serious category as an endangered species. Instead, it has been classified as a species of special concern.” just because you lose your home you dont die, look at the homeless…..
Actually… I have read where the polar bear population is exploding in some areas.
yes, those polar bears are tricky buggers…increasing their populations to hide the ‘fact’ of their ‘imminent’ extinction…didn’t dixie carter say so in a PSA during a ‘mcgyver’ rerun? i’m guessing that’s where libs like jared get their info… just like that devious polar ice cap that keeps thickening
They are just hiding from all the researchers and tourists that insist on eyeballing their terrain.
They aren’t becoming extinct. They are forming a large clan in a hidden cave to sneak up on Sarah Palin when she steps out of her slaughter-copter after her thrilling day of chasing wolves and doing her “shooting fish in a barrel tactic” and at this point they will chomp into her like a pack of rabid wolves, effectively converting her into bear crap and ending the question as to whether or not she will run for president.
Are Polar Bears cute enough to be saved from extinction? The U.S. government just said today that the polar bear is on the endangered species list. Do you care and what can we do? Are they cute enough to generate enough concern for them to save them or what?
Not only are they cute, they are also big. This makes them perfect for attracting human sympathy.
i think alot of people are viewing it that way thats why the baby polar bear in germany is so important, but clearly that alone wont help as they need ice in winter and summer to live on to hunt, and without it they will die. female polar bears need a certain level of weight and nutrients in order to reproduce and without that they cant have cubs. over the past decade females have gotten lighter and instead of 3 cubs at once its 1 cub. we need to do some serious changing of our way of life to reduce the earths climate from melting or implementing a big scientifice machine to help reduce it or they will die.
Heck no! They are scary garbage eating monsters who would be better off dead. They eat all of the cute little baby seals.Plus they are very smelly!!!!
I hope they can help this species out. I think polar bears are adorable as well.
I hope so, I think they are adorable
Global warming, melting ice caps, poor polar bears….? Is it or is it not true that the earth was, for over at least a hundred years , much warmer than it is today? it was called the great warm (I may be wrong with the name). Anyway, that was maybe a few thousand years ago( too little time for anything complex to evolve) and today we still have polar bears. So all this talk of the polar bears going extinct is pure rubbish. If extinction was on the cards for the polar bear then how did they survive when it was even hotter? any of you who belive in the propaganda about the melting ice and the doom of the polar bear, please give me a logical explanation as to how they would have survived if it was even worse than it is today. global warming is a political scam, the earth was hotter before and everything is still here(well maybe a few things but not enough to cause any environmental issues).
Homeostatis or keeping the status quo is not congruent with evolution. Things come and go, temperature and climate changes have happened many times during Earth’s life. Even before people some things survived some died. Its natural, better adapted species thrived.
Okay how did people know how warm it was back when the “great warm” happened because back then they wouldn’t have nearly the amount of technology that we have today it it wouldn’t be even close to as accurate. Polar Bears are going extinct even though their numbers are rising, only very slowly. Due to Global Warming Polar Bears are going to have to get used to living in a jacuzzi formally known as the Artic.
Hint: human beings cannot stop global warming, it’s just a campaign to get people to spend more money on ‘global friendly’ products. excuse the nonsense and lack of capitalization, the shift key on this lap top sucks. any how, in a geography book i read for my boyfriend’s college class, it stated that we’re in an interglacial period and just moving out of a sort of ice age, that’s why we’re getting naturally warmer. if you really want to do something about global warming, eat more cows. they produce a shit load of methane. finally, someone who agress with me
I dont think they are saying that the Polar Bears numbers are dwindling now – and yes there are plenty of polar bears. What they are saying is that Global warming is happening so fast there that once the ice melts they will drop in number very fast, and that can cause extinction.
First of all, Polar Bears aren’t dying from global warming. In fact, studies show that 12 out of 13 polar bear populations along the arctic circle have actually been increasing for the past 10 years, and that the only bear population that wasn’t doing too well was the group that drowned in a freak storm. So, I don’t think that Polar bears are gonna be extinct any time soon. As for Antarctica, I doubt that polar bears would survive like penguins have. They’d have to walk to the shore to get food, then they’d have to walk 56m towards the inland, then do it again and again, etc. But your right, penguins wouldn’t like polar bears……we’re adorable enough, we don’t need competition.
Is is something to think about….I hope there is a way for them to survive, it is a little scary to me to think of a species gone forever…we could be next…. Peace
I think the six species of antarctic seals would highly object to the introduction of polar bears! They have evolved without big predators – and the introduction of one could have devastating effects. Don’t give up hope for the polar bear – the biggest threat to them is human encroachment (and the subsequent hunting/poaching, habitat destruction, pollutions and toxins). From 1965-1970 there was only an estimated 8,000 – 10,000 polar bears left. Now, (thanks to efforts to curtail aerial gunning) there are an estimated 21,000 – 25,000 polar bears. Canada still allows recreational hunting of polar bears at a quantity believed to be unsustainable by biologists, but overall, we are headed in the right direction.
