They are adorable, cuddly and completely vulnerable. Polar bears grab the admiration and recognition of individuals the globe over for their fluffy bright furs and huggable size. They gather respect from animal fans for their searching talent as well as survival strategies in one of the harshest environments on Planet. However regardless of their mind-boggling appeal these giants are actually in threat of being actually wiped off Planet completely.
The Bear Basics
Polar bears are a big species that make their homes on the frozen Arctic ocean. The bears will shell out the majority of their lives on the ice. Males can easily grow up to ten feet in span as well as weigh in at over 600 kilograms! The bears are carnivores, suggesting they eat the meat of more Arctic animals. At present there are actually predicted to be only less than 50 thousands Arctic polar bears left in the wild. They are on the Endangered Animal List.
When polar bears are on land they are more most likely to come face-to-face by having a predator, people. Often individuals hunt polar bears as prizes and other individuals kill polar bears while defending themselves. Folks additional impact polar bears when companies build facilities in their natural atmosphere, thereby altering it irrevocably.
Who Is actually Helping, as well as Just how
Major contributors to the fight to cut the Arctic Polar Bear feature the Coca-Cola Company as well as the World Fauna Fund. Together these organizations are actually raising hard earned cash to analysis what is creating world-wide climate change as well as performing with governmental bureaus to manage greenhouse gasoline discharges. More major projects include energies to avoid unfavorable human connections consisting of poaching and exceptional tourism as well as protecting vital habitat spots such as birthing dens.
Practical knowledge is power. Come to be extra informed about this essential subject matter by visiting Polar Bears at World Wild Life.

extinction of polar bears? how is the extinction or threatenting of polar bears effecting other animals or us. need some answers for a research paper
In Soviet Russia polar bears hunt YOU!!!
Polar bears are not endangered or near extinction, their populations are completely healthy. For some reason environmental extremists are putting forth the idea that they’re all dying. If polar bears were to go extinct, there would probably be an explosion in the population of seals, and they’d overhunt the waters of fish that humans rely on, and it would harm coastal markets.
I believe that it’s the proponents of AWG who are the ones that are paranoid….
LMAO. You try to use a pseudo science (psychology) with all the psycho-babble to say that people who believe in real science are crazy. oh. the irony.
Why should we save polar bears from extinction? im doing a persuasive paper on polar bears and how we should protect them from extincion [[open special zoos for them]] but i cant think of any reasons why theyre useful to us or why we should save them? help!
If you cannot think of a reason animals are useful to the planet than you obviously have NO understanding of what an ecosystem is. EVERY animal on the planet has it’s niche or place in it and serves an important function. Every animal on the planet is dependent on one another, when one species dies out it can negatively affect another species, possibly causing it’s extinction as well, and so on, and so on. I suggest you have your teacher teach you some basic biology/ecology before assigning a project like this.
First thing, polar bears are not going extinct. The only way to protect a large roaming predator is by protecting its habitat. That means large tracts of land and ocean, would have to be classified as polar bear refuges. Within these there would be areas off total protection.
Well consider that it is pretty sad for any animal to become completely extinct. We should try to preserve all life, human or nonhuman. You also have to consider that polar bears keep the other artic wildlife in check from overpopulation and things such as that. But they aren’t going extinct just yet, it is mostly a precautionary because there is a risk they might.
I believe it has to do with polar bears ability to keep the population of other animals down. If you do not have polar bears, then the animals that get hunted and eaten by the bears would grew in numbers and thats bad. bear eat seal; seal eat fish no bear to eat seal, lots of seal eat lots of fish; danger to another population… etc and etc
It would mess up the food chain.

Looks like you answered your own question
WE are to blame for the planet being destroyed, not God…
Polar Bear Extinction Question? What would happen if most of the polar bears died out. Im writing a paper on them possibly going extinct. So besides from the ecosystem going out of wack what else would happen
Most likely not much. Most biologist and ecologist pretty much agree, that the loss of one species wont effect much of anything else. Polar bear are not going extinct. They have not been put on any list. They are a species of concern due to the polar ice caps melting. Here is something most people don’t know. During the previous warm period, that would be the one that ended near the beginning of the last Ice Age, temperatures got warmer than they are now. Polar bear survived the last polar ice melt cause by that warming. There is no reason to believe they wont survive this one. There is something that is of concern. The shipping companies are discussing opening a sea lane through the Arctic Ocean. That could be a possible nightmare. Not only for polar bear, but for the whole Arctic system. Edit: I see someone just likes to go around giving people negative votes. If someone has an issue with my answer, then contact me, we will discuss it. Or perhaps the facts and truth are not acceptable. Perhaps that person prefers to live in ignorance.
Other than the obvious loss of a species, the ecosystem is the biggest problem. No bears, more seals. More seals, less fish. and on and on it goes. It would take a long time to sort itself out (which it would)
actually, polar bears are a subspecies of grizzly bears. So they might loose that white coat and become griz, again (the ones that found their way back to land, anyhow). Uh after about half or more die… The idea of extinction is more about genetic erosion (fewer DNA gene pools mean more catastrophic population collapse than with myriad species)… So if something happens to the panda bear pop. then some other species can fill in that niche. Otherwise, bamboo might take over the world. See the permian extinction… there was fewer species and whatever caused the collapse killed off 80 to 90% of all ocean species and 70% of all land species. That’s a lot and it took five million years for the earth to recover–that’s a long time.
The polar bear population has increased by 1/3 in the past 10 years. Don’t believe all that Al Gore Global Warming Crap!!! They are not going extinct anytime soon.
The Fisheries and Wildlife Service did a survey of polar bear populations in 2006. Their report stated that there were about 22000 bears divided into 20 more or less discrete populations. 2 were increasing and 2 were decreasing, the other 16 were stable. In some areas they had reached their ecologically sustainable level, and that numbers are at their highest since records began. The polar bears are being used by those with a political agenda as propaganda to elicit an emotional response, because they are furry and have big brown eyes. It seems to be working as people hand over the cash without engaging the brain first
Sea ice is at its highest level since records began 30 years ago, and i’m sure that if temperatures were rising which they aren’t then the bears would enjoy a bit of a warm up.. Giving $100 a month to an organisation like the WWF is obscene. As for rising sea levels ,what a ridiculous idea, what you are saying is , if I half fill a glass with ice and half with water, then when the ice melts the glass will overflow! No the glass will remain level, its called Archimedes principle, try it for yourself.
Nope they are doing just fine!
Endangered Species List 1. Taliban 2. Native Americans In few years time 1. Japanese 2. Germans I got a very nice tweet in this today, it said “Its time to shave the bears” By 2050 There will be no Taliban left if we keep killing them at this rate, how much do you donate for that? If you go face to face with bear he’s gonna kill you, same goes for Taliban, yet you pay for bear and not for Taliban? Don’t joke please if Wooly Mammoth disappeared from Earth due to warming why shouldn’t Polar Bear? It’s called “Survival of the fittest”, and it has happened over millions of years which in fact created these polar bear, now its time for them to go.
